OK, for those of you who have been asking, I'm starting my blog! I'm glad that all of you are anxious to join us on our journey. Here's our story for those of you who don't know us.
Recently, while looking on a waiting child list, I saw the picture of a little boy who stole my heart. He is a special needs child who is listed as having "nerve deafness". A perfect match for us, as I am an Audiologist. While looking at his picture I noticed that his birthday was the same as our older son's!
On January 23rd, my younger daughter's birthday, the agency called and offered us his file to review. Although he is listed as having a hearing loss, there is no audiological information in his file. No hearing test at all. So we don't have any idea as to the degree of his heairng loss. After great thought and consideration, we decided to proceed with adopting him! We do not already have a completed dossier, we have only just begun the process. So, it'll be a while before we get to bring him home. It feels like going to be forever!
The process is under way. The birth certificates and marriage certificate are ordered. The Letters of Good Conduct have been requested. The letters of reference are being written. My homemaker letter has been written. I've collected many of the necessary documents for the social worker who will be coming next week. And then we'll wait..................................
